This art easel provides children with paper, whiteboard, and a chalkboard—to satisfy any type of drawing they desire.

It's a wonderful thing to encourage a child to draw—as long as they have a place to do it that isn't your wall. If you want to make your own drawing surface for your budding artists, try this DIY art easel that can be loaded with paper or used as a whiteboard or chalkboard.

This project is really straightforward, and Bob Clagett from I Like to Make Stuff has made it easy by providing the plans on his website to accompany this video. You need only a couple dowels and 1 x 4 boards, which are inexpensive and available at any home center. A miter saw is useful for cutting consistent angles, and a table saw and drill press will also make the job go much faster.

Once you're finished, just drop some crayons, pens, or chalk in the tray and your kids will know what to do.
