The Museum of Ceramics celebrates ART with MoCtober classes. In addition to the usual Thursday morning 10 a.m. painting class taught by Sheri Liebschner, there are weekly workshops to choose from. Register by calling the museum at 330-386-6001 during open hours.
Wednesday, Oct. 5, 10 a.m. Urban Sketching. Capture the beauty of downtown in quick pencil sketches. Class will be held outdoors or inside the museum if the weather is uncooperative. Sketchbook and pencils included. $20 donation.
Thursday, Oct. 13, noon, Doorknob Workshop. Turn river trash into treasure by painting ceramic doorknobs, made in the East Liverpool potteries, into ornaments or paperweights. Cost is $20 and includes all supplies (including doorknobs).
Wednesday, Oct. 19, 10 a.m., Art Journaling. Discover the benefits and methods of capturing images, thoughts or feelings in an art journal. Journal and supplies included. Cost is $20.
Wednesday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m., Greeting Cards. Create cards in watercolor, mixed media or collage for the holidays or anytime. Cards and supplies included. Cost is $20.
For those who like to view art as well as make it, there is an Inspiration Series Friday, Nov. 11, devoted to Roland Schweinsburg. The Inspiration Series features notable artists and ceramic artists from the East Liverpool area. Susan Weaver will give a guided tour of the museum’s Schweinsburg paintings. The art depicts the work life of potters. After the tour, participants may setup their tables and easels to replicate a Schweinsburg painting. This is a free event.
